WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Eligible applicants must:
Come from a family where neither parent has a four year college degree OR meet family income guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Education;
Be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident of the United States, or provide evidence from the Immigration and Naturalization Service of intent to become a permanent resident;
Reside in Arkansas and attend an Arkansas high school;
Be enrolled in the 9th, 10th or 11th grade at the time of their application to participate in UBMS, and
Have a need for program services in order to successfully prepare for college.
Application materials are available on the UBMS website January - April each year.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
There is no cost to students.
All expenses for participants are paid by Upward Bound Math-Science,
through funding by the U.S. Department of
Education.
WHAT IS PROVIDED?
Room and Board on the Lyon College campus
All instruction and classroom supplies, including notebooks, pencils and paper, backpack
Computer CDs, flash drive, calculator
Entrance fees and food on field trips
A weekly stipend of $15 for students in good standing
WHAT IS NOT PROVIDED?
Personal items (toiletry articles, pillow, blankets)
laundry services and products (an on-campus laundry is available.)
